About Interstate Rentals

Interstate Rentals has grown steadily and adapted to meet each new challenge in the construction industry since its founding in May 1981. Ronald Brissette began his company with one employee and a 700 square foot office in Michigan City, Indiana. By 1982, when much of the Midwest was deep in recession, Interstate Rentals’ sales began growing with contracts to repair equipment for a number of local steel mills and factories.

Less than two years after starting Interstate Rentals, Brissette moved his operation to a 7,000 square foot building which he built at the company’s present location, 1047 North State Road 149, in Valparaiso, Indiana. Tool repair remained prominent, but sales of new tools were also increasing. Construction equipment rental seemed like a natural way for Brissette and his staff to expand the business. In the middle 1980s, equipment rentals began to eclipse the repair portion of Interstate Power Tools. In 1990, Interstate developed the 60-foot Light Tower in response to industry needs.

In 2011, Interstate Rentals opened a new location at 707 Fail Road in La Porte, Indiana. The company continues to offer the same products and services as the Valparaiso location, including the 60 foot light tower fleet which continues to grow.

Today, the company rents approximately 1,000 different types of tools to businesses and industries across the United States. Its facility boasts 24,000 square feet of space, including repair shops and storage area.

“We pride ourselves on a number of things,” Brissette said, “our problem-solving techniques, our ability to change to meet the needs of our customers, our excellent repair and service programs, and our people. We make light work of your tough jobs.”
